Playa del Carmen Quintana Roo — Mexican pop star Kenia Os will perform in Playa del Carmen on July 28 as part of the city’s 33rd anniversary celebration, municipal officials have confirmed.

The free concert is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at the Recinto Ferial de Playa del Carmen, making it one of the main public events planned for the anniversary. Mayor Estefanía Mercado confirmed the announcement through her official social media channels, inviting residents, national visitors, international tourists, and the singer’s fans to prepare for the celebration.

“Prepare your flights,” Mercado said in the announcement, noting that one of Mexico’s biggest pop tours is coming to Playa del Carmen.

The confirmation ends several weeks of speculation about whether Kenia Os would be part of the anniversary program. Her appearance is expected to draw a large crowd, especially among younger fans and followers who have helped turn the Mazatlán-born artist into one of Mexico’s most visible pop figures.

Municipal officials also said additional activities will be announced soon for fans hoping to meet the singer backstage. The requirements and official rules for those activities have not yet been released, so fans are being encouraged to watch for announcements from official municipal channels.

Kenia Os, whose full name is Kenia Guadalupe Flores Osuna, first became known as a digital creator before building a full music career. Born in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, she moved from social media into Latin pop and urban-influenced music, eventually signing with Sony Music México. Her albums include Cambios de Luna, K23, Pink Aura, and her 2026 project K de Karma.

Her rise has been closely tied to a large and active fan base. International media have described her as part of a new generation of artists who successfully moved from online platforms into mainstream music. Her song “Malas Decisiones” became a major viral hit, and her visual project Universo K23 earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Long Form Music Video.

In 2026, Kenia Os has continued expanding her pop profile with K de Karma, an album that includes collaborations with artists such as Carla Morrison and Lola Índigo. The project was presented earlier this year at a listening event at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, reinforcing her position as one of the most followed young Mexican artists of the moment.

The July 28 concert also carries local significance. Playa del Carmen marks its municipal anniversary on that date, commemorating the creation of the municipality in 1993. Originally established as Solidaridad, the municipality officially changed its name to Playa del Carmen in 2025, aligning the administrative name with the destination’s globally recognized identity.

This year’s anniversary celebration comes as the city continues to use public events, concerts, food festivals, and cultural programming to bring more activity to downtown and strengthen its identity as more than a beach destination.

For now, the confirmed details are straightforward:
