Horse Abuse Allegations Surface in Tulum Tourist Zone

Horses maltreated in tulum

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Social media users and visitors are raising concerns about the treatment of horses used for tourist rides in this popular beach destination, alleging that the animals are subjected to long hours under the sun without adequate rest.

Posts circulating online describe horses showing signs of physical exhaustion while carrying tourists through streets and high-traffic areas. The complaints also point to a lack of proper breaks and possible overloading during the rides.

Residents and tourists have called for stricter oversight of such recreational services to ensure compliance with animal welfare standards.

As of now, local authorities have not issued an official response to the allegations. The issue has sparked debate among locals and visitors alike, adding to recent discussions about the treatment of animals in Tulum’s tourism sector.
