Family Reports Possible Robbery Attempt on Highway to Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A family reported a possible robbery attempt early Thursday morning while driving on the access road to Playa del Carmen, saying unknown assailants threw eggs at their vehicle and then tried to follow them.

According to the family, the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on a dark, isolated stretch of the highway. They said someone threw eggs at the windshield and sides of their SUV, apparently trying to block the driver’s visibility and force them to stop.

After the egg attack, the family said another vehicle turned on its lights from a nearby point and began following them, heightening their fear during the nighttime journey.

The family managed to continue driving without stopping and later went to a police booth to report the incident. However, they said authorities at the location did not assist them.

The family urged others to take extreme precautions when traveling through the area at night, fearing similar incidents could recur.
