Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Chetumal is kicking off World Cup excitement with a free community event called “Fiebre del Mundial” (World Cup Fever), featuring soccer games, video game tournaments, and a marching band competition at Parque de La Alameda.
The event, organized by the municipal government, aims to promote public spaces and social integration. Activities include penalty shootouts, foosball, FIFA video game tournaments, Panini sticker trading, and fitness sessions led by the Youth Department.
City Councilor Sonia Betancourt announced that the event will also feature a drill team and marching band exhibition and competition, with around 350 participants from pre-registered groups.
“The goal is to offer healthy spaces for children, teenagers, and adults, and to encourage recreational and sports activities that strengthen community participation in Othón P. Blanco,” Betancourt said.
