Attempted Kidnapping of Taxi Driver Triggers Major Police Operation in Felipe Carrillo Puerto
Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo — A taxi driver narrowly escaped an attempted kidnapping on a rural road in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, triggering a large-scale response from local police, state investigators, and federal forces.
The incident occurred on the road connecting the communities of Chunhuas and Yaxley. According to reports, the driver, a member of the General Francisco May Taxi Union, had picked up two men who later tried to abduct him when they reached a remote area.
The driver managed to call for help, and authorities deployed to a location about 10 kilometers from Chunhuas toward Yaxley. Police cordoned off the scene to preserve evidence.
Investigators and forensic experts from the State Prosecutor’s Office arrived to collect evidence. The suspects fled before authorities arrived and remain at large.
