State Prosecutor Seizes Two Hotels Inside Tulum’s Jaguar Park

Official seals placed on the entrance of a hotel inside Tulum's Jaguar Park after seizure by state prosecutors

Tulum, Quintana Roo — State prosecutors seized two properties inside the Jaguar Park early Friday morning in an operation that has left local businesses and workers in the dark about the reasons behind the action.

The properties are the Las Palmas and Cinco Tulum hotels, whose entrances were sealed with official notices dated June 26, 2026, according to witnesses at the scene.

Around 5:30 a.m., agents from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Kidnapping and Extortion Crimes (FECDSE) arrived when the area was nearly empty. They ordered night watchmen to evacuate both establishments and placed official seals on the main entrances without explaining the purpose of the operation.

As of Friday evening, the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) had not issued a statement clarifying whether there is an investigation related to the properties, the alleged crime under investigation, or whether any individuals are being probed.

Hotel managers and representatives have also remained silent, adding to the uncertainty among tourism business owners and service providers in one of the region’s most visited areas.

The seizure comes during a difficult period for Tulum’s tourism sector, which has seen a drop in visitor arrivals and low hotel occupancy. The lack of official information has heightened concerns among industry players, who are awaiting an explanation for an action that once again puts the destination in the spotlight.
