Tulum, Quintana Roo — An Argentine influencer has sparked a heated debate on social media after refusing to pay a 500-peso day pass fee at a Tulum hotel, claiming that the content she created on-site was sufficient compensation.

The influencer, whose name has not been disclosed, entered the Sana hotel in Tulum with a group to use the pools, loungers, and other recreational areas while filming material for her social media channels. She brought her own food and drinks to avoid spending money at the establishment.

Upon leaving, hotel staff informed her that she needed to pay the day pass fee — a standard charge for guests who use the facilities without booking a room. The fee was 500 pesos (approximately $27 USD) per person.

In a video that went viral, the influencer argued that the payment was already covered by the promotional value of the videos and photos she recorded inside the hotel. However, hotel employees explained that advertising collaborations require prior agreements between both parties and cannot be assumed unilaterally.

The incident has triggered widespread discussion online, with users debating the rules of access to tourist establishments and the responsibilities of content creators when using private spaces for digital material. Some defended the need for formal agreements for any commercial collaboration, while others criticized the influencer’s stance, noting that using the facilities requires paying the corresponding fees regardless of any social media exposure.
