Cancun, Quintana Roo — Two Venezuelan men arrested on drug possession charges were found carrying 87 bank cards and three card terminals, police said.

Officers from the Orion Group of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSC) detained Bercelio “N” and Yeison Efraín “N” after seeing them handling bags of marijuana in public. The arrests occurred during routine patrols in the Villas del Mar neighborhood, in the parking lot of a Chedraui supermarket at the intersection of Avenida Tules and Avenida Prolongación Kabah.

During a search, police said they found 45 small transparent plastic bags containing a green plant material resembling marijuana, 33 small transparent plastic bags containing solid transparent fragments resembling crystal methamphetamine, and two cell phones. They also found 87 bank cards and three bank terminals in the suspects’ possession.

Both men were arrested and the illegal items were seized. Police also impounded their gray Toyota Avanza with Quintana Roo license plates. The suspects face drug trafficking charges. Police did not comment on the bank cards.
