Tulum, Quintana Roo — The Tulum city government, backed by Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo, has announced “Fut Fest,” a three-day event timed to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The festival aims to promote family togetherness, provide entertainment for residents and tourists, and boost local businesses including restaurants, hotels, and merchants during Mexico’s national team matches.
At a press conference, City Secretary Johnny Monsreal invited the public to attend the event, scheduled for June 11, 18, and 24 at the Dos Aguas dome court. A giant screen will broadcast the games, and additional recreational and sports activities are planned.
“We are very excited about this activity, which has the full support of Mayor Diego Castañón. It will undoubtedly activate the local economy and allow us to offer our population and tourists an activity where, as is well known, Mexican passion is unique,” Monsreal said.
Andrea Campderá, director of Tourism Promotion, said that before, during, and after each broadcast, there will be sports activities for children, youth, and soccer fans to foster community participation. The venue will also feature food and beverage stands, giving local entrepreneurs and merchants a chance to sell their products and strengthening the municipal economy.
Fut Fest kicks off on June 11 at 12:00 p.m. with the broadcast of the World Cup opening ceremony, followed by the inaugural match. Subsequent game days will allow families, visitors, and fans to enjoy the excitement of soccer together.
