Tulum, Quintana Roo — Ariadna Chávez, a judoka from Tulum and member of Mexico’s national team, has launched a fundraising campaign to cover expenses for the World Judo Championships, scheduled for August 20-23, 2026, in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Chávez said she faces the challenge of raising funds for transportation, lodging, food, and competition fees after being called up to the national team. She called on business owners, merchants, citizens, and potential sponsors to support her athletic project.
Chávez has a notable record in Mexican judo, including championships in various national tournaments, a three-time national champion title, two national runner-up finishes, and podium finishes in international competitions. These achievements have established her as one of Quintana Roo’s top representatives in the sport.
“Representing Mexico at a World Championship is a dream I’ve worked toward for many years. Now I have the chance to compete against the best judokas in the world, but I need support to make this trip happen. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help me keep fighting for my goals and proudly carry the name of Tulum, Quintana Roo, and our country,” the athlete said.
Chávez emphasized that her results come from effort, discipline, and perseverance, and expressed confidence that the community and business sector will back local athletes representing Mexico internationally.
