Tulum, Quintana Roo — The municipality of Tulum hosted a strategic meeting between local authorities, business owners, and travel agencies to strengthen the destination’s promotion, competitiveness, and commercial partnerships in national and international markets.
The event is a direct result of agreements reached during the Tianguis Turístico de México held earlier in Acapulco. Representatives of the Mexican Association of Travel Agencies (AMAV) proposed holding their assembly in Tulum due to the region’s strategic value as a hub for the industry.
The municipal administration coordinated the logistics, involving hotels, restaurants, tour operators, and other local tourism service providers seeking to expand their presence in the sector.
Haydee Hernández Pastrana, Tulum’s municipal tourism director, said the event has the support of Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo. She noted that the administration promotes ongoing collaboration with the private sector to attract investments that generate direct economic benefits for the community.
Participants are working in roundtables to diversify the municipality’s offerings and design campaigns highlighting the area’s natural, cultural, and gastronomic wealth. Travel agencies serve as the key channel to build consumer confidence and consolidate visitor flow.
Local authorities emphasized that the municipality is addressing the challenges of demographic and tourism growth through a sustainable and orderly development approach. The city government expects these alliances to strengthen the competitiveness of the local brand against other world-class international destinations.
