Mérida, Yucatán — Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa inaugurated the Mexican Caribbean pavilion at the K’íiwik Maya World Tourism Fair 2026 on Wednesday, showcasing eight community tourism experiences from the Maya Ka’an region.
The event, held at the Mérida International Congress Center, was attended by Mexico’s Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, Yucatán Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena, and Campeche Governor Layda Sansores San Román.
The eight experiences are part of the “Travels through the Maya World” catalog, a strategy aimed at boosting economic development in rural Maya communities through sustainable tourism that preserves cultural identity. The offerings include:
- Punta Allen, in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve
- U-Belilek, in Tihosuco
- Lool Chuy, in Xpichil
- Community Tours Sian Ka’an, in Muyil
- Balam Nah and Sijil Noh Já, both on the Ocom Lagoon
- Xyat, in the community of Señor
- Kiich Pam Kaax, in Chunhuhub
All are located in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto. The fair also features participation from hotel associations in Cancún, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Morelos, Cozumel, and the central and southern regions of Quintana Roo.
The K’íiwik Maya World Tourism Fair 2026 brings together representatives from southeastern Mexican states and countries sharing the Maya civilization legacy, serving as a strategic platform for destination promotion, trade, and alliances to strengthen regional tourism.
