Chetumal, Quintana Roo — The Quintana Roo DIF system launched a youth prevention program called “Aquí entre Kuatis: Hagamos Acción para la Prevención” in Othón P. Blanco municipality, aiming to strengthen safety and well-being for children and adolescents.
The program was led by Verónica Lezama Espinosa, honorary president of DIF Quintana Roo, at Technical Secondary School No. 27 “Rosario María Gutiérrez Eskildsen” in Chetumal. Students, officials, and various institutions gathered to promote safe and healthy environments for younger generations.
During the event, Lezama emphasized that the program represents a close, dynamic, and effective strategy to promote fundamental values among youth. “We work every day to ensure they grow up in safe, informed environments with opportunities to develop fully,” she said.
She noted that “Aquí entre Kuatis” helps young people understand their rights, build self-esteem, and make responsible decisions that positively impact their future.
Collaborative Effort
The program was organized by DIF Quintana Roo through its Directorate for Attention to Children and Adolescents in Vulnerable Situations, in coordination with the Othón P. Blanco municipal DIF. Several institutions participated with informational booths and educational activities, including:
- Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana
- Centro de Integración Juvenil
- Servicios Estatales de Salud
- Instituto Municipal de la Juventud
- Policía Municipal and the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender Violence
Interactive Activities
The event featured activities designed to encourage student participation, including physical activation, recreational dynamics, a presentation of the “Kuati” mascot costume, and tours of informational booths. These approaches addressed psychosocial risk prevention in a playful and accessible manner.
The program’s main objectives are to promote children’s and adolescents’ rights, prevent risky behaviors, strengthen self-esteem, and foster safe and healthy environments. Such strategies contribute to youth development by promoting a culture of prevention from early ages.
Officials emphasized that prevention is a shared task among families, schools, institutions, and society, with these programs reinforcing collaboration to build safer communities.
