Quintana Roo Court Sentences Domestic Abuser, Charges 11 Others in Family Violence Cases

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A man has been sentenced to three years in prison for physically assaulting his partner and their 18-month-old child during a domestic dispute in February, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Santiago Joel Dávila Hernández was convicted for the attack on Feb. 22, during which he also allegedly tried to force the woman to consume crystal methamphetamine. The sentence was handed down after prosecutors presented evidence in court.

In a separate development, the prosecutor’s office said it has secured formal charges against 11 individuals for crimes including domestic violence, vicarious violence, assault, and failure to pay child support. Authorities also executed an arrest warrant in one of the cases.

In Othón P. Blanco, Alejandro “N” was charged with physically and psychologically abusing his ex-partner. In the same municipality, Ángel Donato “N”, Luis Erick “N”, and Carlos Rafael “N” face similar allegations.

In Playa del Carmen, Rodolfo Michel “N” was charged with domestic and vicarious violence against his ex-partner and children. Yeni Araceli “N” and Alexis “N” were also charged with family-related assaults.

In Benito Juárez, Moisés Daniel “N” and Erick Emmanuel “N” were accused of physically attacking their partners. In Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Erick Eduardo “N” was charged with persistent verbal abuse against his family.

In José María Morelos, Benjamín “N” faces charges for failing to pay child support, accumulating a significant debt.

Some of the accused remain in pretrial detention while their cases proceed.
