Cancun, Quintana Roo — Predador Fight Championship officially announced its 49th edition on Saturday, marking the organization’s return to action nearly a year after its last event in Colombia.
The event, held at Hooters Cancun, represents a new chapter for the mixed martial arts league founded by Alex Renner, who died after the previous edition. His legacy inspired the team to continue his work and keep one of Cancun’s most important sports platforms alive.
Under new management by Momentum, Predador Fight Championship is transitioning into Cancun’s first international MMA league, featuring UFC-linked personalities and opportunities for local and national talent. The card will include approximately 15 fights, with three championship bouts.
Emmanuel Sanchez, Momentum’s director general, emphasized the company’s commitment to the community and support for social causes, including the RCD Foundation, which aids children with cancer.
Mauricio Zabaya, a Momentum representative, expressed excitement about bringing Predador back to Cancun and promised numerous surprises for fans.
Eduardo Cortes, one of the matchmakers, highlighted the importance of tryouts across age groups and weight classes to give opportunities to aspiring fighters.
The biggest announcement came from Montserrat “The Monster” Rendon, the only Cancun native to compete in the UFC. She will headline Predador Fight Championship 49, fighting in her hometown for the first time in her professional career.
“This is a crucial platform for local athletes to grow and reach world-class competitions,” Rendon said.
