Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The city of Playa del Carmen is close to deciding which financial institution will provide a short-term loan approved by the city council, according to Municipal Treasurer Guillermo Brahms.

Brahms said several major banks have submitted proposals, and the city is reviewing terms to choose the most favorable option. He expects a decision within the next two weeks.

The loan, authorized by the city council, can be for up to 154 million pesos, though Brahms indicated the city will likely request 150 million pesos. The debt must be repaid by June 2027.

Regarding a previous loan from Bancrea for 125 million pesos, Brahms confirmed the city is making payments and expects to fully repay it by October.

Brahms also said the first 8 million pesos in federal contributions under the Ramo 28 program have been received. These payments will continue monthly through December.
