PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MX — Mayor Estefanía Mercado has announced that for the first time, the communities of Puerto Aventuras and Villas del Sol will have permanent ambulance services. The initiative is part of her administration's commitment to ensure all residents can receive medical attention in emergency situations.
"In Playa del Carmen, we have a Secretariat of Citizen Security with four ambulances. From now on, one of those ambulances will be permanently stationed in Puerto Aventuras and another will go to support Villas del Sol. With this, we reaffirm our commitment to ensure healthcare reaches everyone," she stated.
The mayor recalled that her administration promotes the program "Salud sin Tanto Choro" (Health Without So Much Trouble), which offers free medical services. Currently, this program operates two fixed medical units, located in Villas del Sol and in the Zazil Ha neighborhood, which provide close and direct care to families. The goal is to register 20,000 people in a first stage.
She elaborated that this is an initiative that has begun to change the lives of hundreds of local families, who now have access to free medical care, medications at no cost, and specialized services without complicated paperwork or long waits.
"In Playa del Carmen, healthcare is a right for everyone, not a privilege. We will continue working so that no resident is left without the attention they deserve," emphasized Estefanía Mercado.
With these actions, the Playa del Carmen government strengthens health coverage and reaffirms its commitment to the well-being and safety of families.
