Playa del Carmen Council Approves Guillermo Brahms as New Municipal Treasurer

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Playa del Carmen City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Guillermo Andrés Brahms González as the new Municipal Treasurer for the 2024-2027 term, proposed by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, who emphasized the importance of strengthening financial administration with experienced and transparent profiles.

During the regular session, the council formalized the designation and the official took the oath of office, pledging to work with responsibility, financial discipline, and transparency in the management of public resources.

As part of the agreement, Brahms must present a surety bond within 30 business days, in accordance with state regulations.

Council members from different political parties supported the appointment and recognized the new treasurer’s track record and ability to contribute to strengthening municipal finances.

In the same session, the council approved several agreements focused on infrastructure, education, and civil protection, including signing agreements with state agencies to improve educational facilities and public works. It also authorized a technical inspection on a section of Federal Highway 305-D to assess risks and issue a safety report.

Additionally, the council approved proposals to penalize damage to public roads and presented initiatives related to women’s safety on public transport, as well as the regulation of restroom use in parks and recreational spaces.

At the end of the session, the mayor made new appointments in key areas of the city government to strengthen the local administrative structure.
