Zurich — FIFA has officially launched the FIFA Fan ID, a physical and digital credential designed to enhance the fan experience at the 2026 World Cup, which kicks off in less than three weeks.

The free card, available to all ticket holders, can be picked up at information points inside the 16 host stadiums across Mexico, the United States, and Canada. While it does not replace match tickets or serve as a travel document, the Fan ID acts as a personalized digital key unlocking exclusive content and interactive experiences.

Once activated via mobile devices, fans will gain access to augmented reality messages, personalized official content, exclusive tournament merchandise, digital rewards, interactive stadium information, and special activations on match days. FIFA said the platform will be updated throughout the competition with new features.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the goal is to deepen fans’ emotional connection to the World Cup beyond the 90 minutes of play, describing the card as a permanent souvenir and a tool to preserve personalized memories of the tournament.

The 2026 World Cup will be the largest in history, featuring 48 national teams and 104 matches across 16 host cities. The opening match is scheduled for June 11 in Mexico City. FIFA estimates more than six million people will attend matches in person, with a global audience potentially exceeding six billion across television and digital platforms.

The Fan ID is part of FIFA’s broader strategy to boost direct fan engagement, expand official digital consumption, strengthen rewards programs, and create new commercial opportunities tied to personalized content. FIFA encouraged fans to arrive early to stadiums to participate in live shows, interactive activities, and promotional giveaways linked to the card.

FIFA reiterated that the only authorized platform for purchasing official tickets is the tournament’s official website, along with certified hospitality programs, warning against buying from unofficial channels due to rising international demand.
