Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A young man who believed he had arranged a rendezvous online ended up surrounded by three men in an alleged robbery attempt in the Ejido neighborhood, according to his account to authorities.
The complainant said he was contacted through a digital platform that promised to take him to an escort house. When he reached the corner of Avenida Juárez and Calle 65, the three suspects allegedly tried to take roughly 7,000 pesos from him.
He began shouting for help, drawing the attention of neighbors. Several residents came to his aid and chased the alleged perpetrators.
Two of the suspects managed to escape, while police officers who arrived at the scene detained the third.
According to the complainant, the detained man handed the money back once neighbors and police had surrounded him. Authorities will determine the circumstances of the case and the responsibility of those involved.
