Movimiento Ciudadano Eyes Five Quintana Roo Municipalities in 2027 Elections, Says State Leader

Movimiento Ciudadano state leader Dr. Pech speaks at event in Felipe Carrillo Puerto

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo — Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) has the potential to win five municipalities in Quintana Roo in the 2027 elections, according to the party’s state operational commission coordinator, Dr. José Luis Pech Várguez.

Speaking at an event where he appointed Óscar Alberto Cruz López as the party’s state operational commission delegate in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Pech said that Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Cozumel join three other municipalities where MC has maintained strong chances since the last electoral process: Othón P. Blanco, Tulum, and José María Morelos.

Pech highlighted the solid leadership in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, particularly Cruz, whom he praised as a key promoter of MC who achieved strong results in recruiting new party members. The appointment was made by MC’s national delegate in Quintana Roo, Jacobo Cheja Alfaro, who has sole authority to grant such positions, Pech noted.

Pech also recognized other local leaders, including María Luisa Pot Ek, municipal operational commission coordinator; Crystian Eithel Chagoya Escalante, district XIII coordinator; and Leobardo Rojas López, state electoral structure coordinator, for strengthening the party in the Maya Zone municipality.

He attributed MC’s opportunity in Felipe Carrillo Puerto to the party’s strong local structure and what he called the poor results of the current Morena administration, which he described as frivolous and corrupt.

“At some point we will have to make a decision, based not only on the work being done but also on the people’s preferences, to determine the candidates,” Pech said. He added that Dante Delgado Ranauro, head of the National Commission of Conventions and Internal Processes, ensures the party will field the best candidates with the greatest chances of winning state capitals like Chetumal and important municipalities such as Carrillo Puerto, Tulum, Cozumel, and José María Morelos.

Óscar Alberto Cruz thanked the party leadership for the appointment and acknowledged his team’s commitment and participation, saying their goal is a better municipality and state.
