Cancun, Quintana Roo — More than 20,000 people gathered on the Nichupté Lagoon on Sunday for a free concert by Colombian pop-folk band Morat, part of the inauguration festivities for the new Nichupté Vehicular Bridge.

The concert, headlined by Governor Mara Lezama, featured a stage built over the water near the bridge. The event capped a weekend of celebrations that included the official opening with President Claudia Sheinbaum, as well as sports, recreational, and cultural activities organized by the state government.

Morat, known for hits like “Cómo te atreves,” “Besos en guerra,” and “No se va,” performed a setlist that also included “Amor con hielo,” “Cuando nadie ve,” “Mi nuevo vicio,” “A dónde vamos,” “Faltas tú,” “Presiento,” and “506.” The band has built a strong following across Latin America and Spain with their emotive lyrics and catchy choruses.

The Nichupté Bridge, an emblematic infrastructure project, is expected to transform mobility in Cancun.
