Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The Mexican Navy, through its Fifth Naval Region, participated Sunday in the “Blue Brigade” cleanup of the Salina Grande Lagoon in Isla Mujeres, marking World Reef Day.

The operation aimed to promote environmental awareness and reduce pollution from solid waste in coastal ecosystems. Personnel from the Fifth Naval Region, the Isla Mujeres Harbor Master’s Office, and the Isla Mujeres City Council worked together to clean the lagoon’s surroundings.

In total, approximately 100 kilograms of solid waste were collected, including bottles, plastic bags, paper, and other debris. The effort contributes to the preservation of this important natural area.
