Mara Lezama Oversees Measures to Speed Up Passenger Service at Cancun Airport
Cancun, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama met with the head of Mexico’s National Customs Agency (ANAM), Héctor Alonso Romero Gutiérrez, to tour Cancun International Airport and review progress on customs operations, with an eye to speeding up passenger processing.
The officials inspected the baggage claim area and evaluated procedures aimed at reducing wait times. They also reviewed inspection checkpoints to identify opportunities for making processes more efficient without compromising security.
As part of the operational strengthening strategy, the General Customs Directorate will acquire new specialized scanners and hire additional staff to bolster inspection work, optimize review times, and maintain security standards at one of Latin America’s busiest airports.
The meeting also covered the Southern Quintana Roo Customs Precinct project, described as a strategic initiative to strengthen the state’s logistics and customs infrastructure, boost foreign trade, and consolidate regional economic development.
