Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A man was found dead with apparent stab wounds on the streets of Colonia Cristo Rey, drawing public security officers and State Prosecutor’s Office personnel to the scene.

According to preliminary information from the municipal Citizen Security Department, officers were sent to the area after receiving a report of a person lying in a public street.

On arrival, the officers found the man with visible injuries. After assessing him, they confirmed he showed no signs of life.

Scene processed by investigators

Police cordoned off the area to preserve possible evidence tied to the case. Investigators and forensic experts from the State Prosecutor’s Office then processed the scene and collected information aimed at clarifying the circumstances of the death.

The body was taken to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo), where examinations will be carried out to determine the cause of death and to establish the victim’s identity.

No identity released, no arrests reported

So far, authorities have not disclosed the dead man’s identity and have not reported any arrests in connection with the case.

Officials have also not established how the events unfolded or whether the injuries were the result of a direct attack.

The State Prosecutor’s Office is continuing its investigation to determine whether the death was a homicide and, if so, to identify possible suspects and establish a motive.
