Chetumal, Quintana Roo — The Caribbean Culture Festival (FECUCA) 2026 will run from Nov. 19 to 22 across Quintana Roo, bringing artists from seven countries together for four days of music, dance, literature, visual arts and food. Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa announced that Belize will be the guest country of this year’s edition.
Lezama said the state will host activities for both residents and visitors over the four days, aimed at strengthening cultural ties between Mexico and the peoples of the Caribbean.
What the festival will offer
According to the state government, the program includes book fairs, concerts, dance galas, visual arts exhibitions, lectures and food tastings.
The 2026 edition will bring together representatives from Belize, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Honduras, Argentina and Mexico, along with more than 30 artistic groups and performers.
Among the announced shows is an opening concert on Nov. 19 in Chetumal by the band Bacilos. Los Pericos, the Belize National Dance Company and Chetumal-born artist Astrid Hadad will also perform.
Belize takes the spotlight
Belize will play a special role as guest country, with presentations showcasing its artistic expressions and traditions. Organizers said the program is designed to spark exchange among the cultural traditions of the participating nations.
The event has the backing of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and the federal Culture Secretariat through the National Circuit of Festivals for Peace.
A tribute to the bolero
Lezama said this edition will also celebrate UNESCO’s recognition of the bolero as intangible cultural heritage of humanity. The governor noted that the musical genre is part of the shared memory and traditions of Mexico and Cuba.
The Quintana Roo Institute of Culture and the Arts invited the public to take part in the Nov. 19-22 events. The full lineup, along with show times and venues, will be published on the institute’s social media accounts and official website.
