Cancún, Mexico — A man was executed by gunfire on Tuesday afternoon inside a second-class bus ticket sales business located in Supermanzana 66 of Cancún, a high-traffic area near the zone known as El Crucero, between Tulum and José López Portillo avenues. The armed attack prompted a strong police mobilization and alarm among merchants and citizens who were at the location.
According to witness accounts, the victim was being pursued by two individuals traveling on a motorcycle. In a desperate attempt to reach safety, the man entered the establishment identified as “Turismos Hermanos Hernández,” where he was finally caught by his aggressors, who shot him repeatedly. The body remained lying inside the premises, which was immediately cordoned off by authorities to preserve the crime scene.
Municipal Police officers were the first to arrive at the site and requested support from Red Cross paramedics. After the corresponding assessment, the rescuers confirmed that the person no longer showed vital signs, so they withdrew from the location, leaving the area under police guard.
Preliminarily, it was reported that the victim did not work at the business, but entered solely to seek refuge during the pursuit. This detail is still under investigation by ministerial authorities, who are carrying out the corresponding procedures to clarify the motive for the homicide.
The establishment where the execution occurred functions as a small bus terminal, offering ticket sales to states such as Tabasco, Chiapas, Veracruz, Mexico City, and other points in the country, which increased the impact of the incident among customers and employees.
As of the close of this information, no arrests have been reported. The perpetrators managed to flee the location after the attack. The investigation was taken over by the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of homicide, while neighbors and merchants expressed their concern about the increase in violent incidents in this area of Cancún.
