Two suspects in the Kusamil kidnapping case being presented to the media by authorities in Cancun

Cancun, Quintana Roo — Two men have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and torture of three individuals in Cancun’s Paseos Kusamil neighborhood, authorities announced Tuesday.

The suspects, identified as Fabián “N” and Ángel “N,” face charges of kidnapping and violations of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives.

The rescue operation was launched after an anonymous tip to the 089 hotline reported armed individuals holding people against their will at a home on Cardenal Street. Officers from the Public Security Department, along with personnel from the Mexican Navy, the Mexican Army, and the National Guard, responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers heard cries for help and death threats coming from inside the home. They entered and found three men bound hand and foot, blindfolded, and showing visible signs of abuse.

The victims told authorities they were being beaten, threatened with death, and that their captors demanded money from their families for their release. One victim said the kidnappers had demanded 500,000 pesos (about $27,000) from his family.

Weapons and Tactical Gear Seized

During the operation, authorities seized the following items:

  • Three loaded long firearms
  • Cartridges and magazines in calibers .223 and 5.56
  • Four tactical vests with ballistic plates, two bearing the inscription “Deltas Operativa Jaguar”
  • A cellphone
  • A motorcycle without license plates

The three victims received pre-hospital care from paramedics and were taken to the Jesús Kumate Rodríguez General Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The two suspects and all seized evidence were handed over to the State Prosecutor’s Office, Specialized in Combating Kidnapping and Extortion.
