Suspect in Cancun Aqua Collapse That Killed 2 Ordered to Stand Trial, Assets Seized
Cancun, Quintana Roo — A judge has ordered a suspect to stand trial for the collapse of a structure at the Aqua residential complex in Cancun that killed two people and injured five others, the State Prosecutor’s Office announced.
The suspect, identified as Amir N., was arrested in San Luis Potosi and brought before a judge, who found sufficient evidence to proceed with a criminal case. The judge imposed up to two years of pretrial detention, or until the trial concludes.
The collapse occurred on June 5 at the main entrance of the Aqua complex in Cancun’s Supermanzana 336. Authorities said the structure gave way while work was being carried out in the area.
During the hearing, the judge also ordered the precautionary seizure of two properties linked to KM Corporacion Inteligente S.A. de C.V. and a Tesla vehicle, as part of the measures requested by prosecutors.
The suspect faces charges of homicide and injuries in connection with the incident.
