Estefanía Mercado Asencio has officially assumed her role as the Mayor of Solidaridad. During her inauguration on Monday, she pledged to lead with honesty, responsibility, and a commitment to service. "Our approach is one of shared prosperity, placing people at the heart of everything we do. Our administration will be driven by transformation and prosperity. Today marks the beginning of a new era for Solidaridad, filled with hope for its transformation and the welfare of its people," she stated during her inaugural speech.
The swearing-in ceremony and the installation of the municipality were conducted in the presence of several dignitaries. These included the Governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama Espinosa; the President of the Superior Court of Justice, Heyden Cebada Rivas; and the Chairman of the Political Coordination Board (Jugocopo) of the State Congress, Jorge Sanen Cervantes.
Following the inauguration, the official handover of the Municipal President's Office took place, in accordance with legal formalities. The first ordinary session of the Municipality saw the appointment of heads of administrative areas. Luis Herrera Quiam was named the General Secretary, while Javier Regalado Hendricks will head the Municipal Treasury. Cristina Alcerreca was put in charge of the Internal Control Body, Raúl Tassinari was assigned the Ministry of Public Security, Alejandra Madrigal was named Director of Income, and Fabiola Morales will serve as the Director of Expenditures.
Mercado Asencio expressed her pride in her team on social media, stating, "We have assembled a team of Playa del Carmen locals who are committed to serving the people. They share the spirit of being Solidarians by birth, by choice, and by conviction."
