Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — The Secretary of Environment in Quintana Roo, Óscar Rébora, has once again shared through his social media the actions implemented, this time against a construction project that violates regulations and where, despite closure seals, work continues.
The project is visible from the main avenue entering the port, and practically since the work began, its size has been evident. However, this follow-up on the closure comes when the project is already 60% complete.
“We closed this place called Bella Mare on August 7. We are in Puerto Morelos, with the Attorney for Environmental Protection. It is a space that has extra floors, they encroached on the sidewalk, and they are not complying with environmental policies or urban policies,” stated the head of Sema.
It is a real estate project built a few streets from the main park and the emblematic lighthouse, a project that violated environmental regulations and, despite suspension seals, continued to be constructed.
For his part, the head of the Attorney’s Office for Environmental Protection (PPA), Alonso Fernández Lemmen Meyer, detailed that a complaint has already been filed with the State Attorney General’s Office for the breaking of seals.
“We have removed the workers from this site a couple of times, and they have continued working,” he denounced.
Óscar Rébora acknowledged that the owners continue building, but they will no longer allow it, because no one can be above the law or the environment.
