Cumbia, Rock and Pop Headline Plaza de Toros Cancún Concert Series

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Tropical music, pop, rock and alternative acts will take over the Plaza de Toros Cancún over the coming months, in a lineup that brings together artists from different generations and genres.

The series opens Sept. 30 with Junior Klan as part of Zeta Fest. Formed in Veracruz in 1972, the group is one of the leading names in Mexican cumbia and tropical music, with more than five decades of songs that have filled dance floors for generations of fans.

From Romantic Ballads to Rock

Mijares Sinfónico follows on Oct. 2, offering the Mexican singer’s repertoire in an orchestral setting.

A day later, on Oct. 3, it is the turn of Enjambre, a Mexican rock and indie rock band from Zacatecas known for blending alternative melodies with lyrics that carry a strong identity of their own.

The schedule resumes Nov. 6 with Adora Cancún. On Nov. 13, Los Dos Carnales take the stage, a group that has introduced norteño music to new audiences while keeping the roots of the genre in place.

Panteón Rococó and Yuridia in November

Nov. 14 brings one of the most anticipated dates for fans of Mexican rock and ska: Panteón Rococó. Formed in Mexico City in the mid-1990s, the band has built its reputation on a fusion of ska, punk, rock and Latin rhythms that has stayed relevant for decades.

On Nov. 26, Yuridia takes the Plaza de Toros Cancún stage. The Sonoran singer rose to fame in 2005 through the television competition La Academia and has since built a career of hits and awards that places her among the most prominent Mexican vocalists of her generation.

Siddhartha to Close the Series

Siddhartha wraps up the run of shows on Dec. 5. The Guadalajara-born musician, composer and producer also played drums with Zoé before consolidating a solo career that made him one of the defining figures of Mexican indie rock.

His work moves between rock, folk and alternative pop, a style that has allowed him to carve out a distinct identity on the national scene.

With the program, the Plaza de Toros Cancún adds cumbia, romantic music, norteño, ska, rock, pop and indie to the city’s entertainment calendar, drawing on artists from several generations to reach audiences of different ages and tastes.
