Cancún, Quintana Roo — The fourth edition of Croquetatón, a charity run benefiting abandoned dogs and cats, will take place on Sunday, August 16, starting at 6:30 a.m. at Malecón Tajamar.
Organized by Fundación Dejando Huellas por Cancún A.C., the event combines sports, family time, and solidarity to support animals rescued by the foundation. “It’s an event that unites sport, family togetherness, and solidarity to help dogs and cats rescued by the foundation,” said Amanda Yareli Robles Camacho, the foundation’s media officer.
The run has the backing of the Benito Juárez Sports Institute, which will provide logistical support to ensure a safe route for participants.
Participants can choose from three distances: a 3-kilometer run with a dog, a 5-kilometer run for runners, and a 200-meter children’s race, allowing the whole family to join.
Registration fees go to the foundation, but attendees can also donate dry or canned food of any brand. The registration cost is 350 pesos, which includes an official T-shirt, race number, medal, a bandana for dogs, and a donation of one kilogram of croquettes per participant.
In-person registration is available at El Escolta store, Sportway, Universidad Oriente, Voz Dental, and Volkswagen dealerships in Cancún, Cumbres, and Playa del Carmen. Kit pickup will be on Saturday, August 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
