The Caribbean Regional Chamber and Auxiliary of the Federal Administrative Justice Tribunal (TFJA) has dismissed new evidence presented in the case by the partners of shipping company Barcos Caribe. The company, which is associated with former governor Roberto Borge Angulo, was seeking to regain its federal crossing concession between Playa del Carmen and Cozumel. The court has also asked the First Section of the Superior Chamber of the TFJA to deliver the final judgment.
The ruling, which was made public on October 15, is related to case file 702/22-20-01-8. This case pertains to the nullification trial initiated by Impulsora Marítima de Quintana Roo y del Caribe S.A. de C.V. in September 2022. The shipping company had been trying to overturn the revocation of its concession, which occurred in 2018 after an accident involving the explosion of one of its ferries, Caribe III.
In his ruling, magistrate Jaime Romo García stated that the new evidence presented could not be admitted, thereby bringing the evidentiary phase of the judicial process to a close. The court has ordered the original case files to be sent to the First Section of the Superior Chamber for the issuance of the final judgment.
