In a tragic incident last night, a 48-year-old lawyer named Daniel was shot 22 times in the Andalucía district of Cancún. The incident began at 8:08 pm, with a distress call to the 911 emergency service reporting gunfire on Puerto Peñasco Street in the 528 superblock, specifically at block 17, lot 15. Officers from the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) were the first to arrive at the scene, where they found Daniel lying on the sidewalk with numerous gunshot wounds. They immediately cordoned off the area to preserve evidence.
Despite the swift arrival of an ambulance, paramedics could not save Daniel, who showed no signs of life. According to witnesses, the lawyer, originally from Guerrero, was trying to escape when he was mercilessly shot by his attackers, sustaining 22 wounds, several of them to his head.
The Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender Violence (Geavig) was called to the scene to look after a minor, believed to be Daniel's daughter. Reports suggest that Daniel had left the girl at home while he went shopping and was intercepted by his attackers on his return.
Investigators from the State Attorney General's Office arrived at the scene to collect the spent rounds and begin their investigation into the crime. Daniel's body was later transferred to the Forensic Medical Service for a legal autopsy.
