Tulum, Quintana Roo — A car carrying several workers skidded off the road Tuesday morning on Avenida Itzamná near McCarthy’s Irish Pub in the Aldea Zamá area, authorities said.
According to initial reports, wet pavement from overnight rain caused the driver to lose control. The vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in the vegetation alongside the road.
Despite the dramatic nature of the crash, all occupants escaped without serious injuries and did not require hospital transport.
National Guard and state police officers responded to the scene, conducted an investigation, and secured the area. Traffic was maintained with caution while the vehicle was removed.
Authorities reminded drivers to reduce speed and increase following distance when driving in rainy conditions, as wet pavement increases the risk of losing control, especially on curves or areas where water accumulates. They also urged drivers to check tire and brake conditions during the rainy season.
The incident resulted only in material damage. The vehicle was towed from the site to restore normal traffic flow in the Aldea Zamá area.
