Cancún — Cancún experienced its bloodiest week so far in September, with six executions recorded in different parts of the city. These events highlight the growing violence impacting the municipality of Benito Juárez.
On Monday, two homicides were reported: one in the Jardines de Bonampak subdivision, in supermanzana 77, and another in Prado Norte, in supermanzana 260. In both cases, men were attacked with gunfire.
On Thursday, violence again reached supermanzana 260, when a taquero who was wounded in an armed attack died in the hospital.
Sunday concluded with the most brutal day, as three people were executed almost simultaneously in armed attacks registered in regions 254 and 259.
With these events, Cancún adds up to the most violent week of the month, reflecting an uptick in murders linked to organized crime. Meanwhile, the citizenry remains in a state of uncertainty due to the lack of conclusive results from security authorities.
