Cancún, Quintana Roo — Hoteliers from Cancún, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres held an extraordinary meeting Thursday with the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ) to review and strengthen promotional strategies for the remainder of the year.

The sector, which has faced occupancy and operational conditions below projections during the World Cup period, is now turning its attention to the second half of 2026. The meeting aimed to align hotel industry decisions with the CPTQ’s global promotion efforts.

Rodrigo de la Peña, president of the Hotel Association of Cancún, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres (AHCPMIM), thanked the council for its willingness to meet. “We need to coordinate more and work more closely, open the conversation, and express from both sides what we need from each other. That is fundamental to building solutions together, as a team,” he said.

CPTQ Director General Andrés Martínez Reynoso led the presentation, accompanied by his executive team. He outlined the current market outlook, global promotion strategies, commercial tools, and international partnerships aimed at keeping the Mexican Caribbean competitive.

After the presentation, an open forum allowed attendees to ask questions and engage directly with officials. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to anticipate challenges for the second half of 2026 and aim for a strong year-end close.

The AHCPMIM, founded 49 years ago, represents more than 35,000 hotel rooms. Its goal is to foster sustainable growth, continuous improvement in hospitality services, and best practices among its members.
