Cozumel, Quintana Roo — A brawl involving tourists, restaurant employees, and taxi drivers broke out Monday evening in Cozumel’s main tourist district, prompting police intervention and multiple arrests.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. outside a restaurant at the intersection of Rafael E. Melgar Avenue and 5th Street, according to local reports.

Witnesses said the fight began when a group of tourists allegedly became aggressive toward a waitress, then clashed with restaurant staff, taxi drivers, and bystanders. Video footage circulating on social media shows the chaotic scene, though the initial provocation is not visible.

Police officers arrived and separated the parties, making several arrests to restore order. Authorities have not yet confirmed the number of detainees or injuries, and officials said a statement would be issued in the coming hours.
