Tulum, Quintana Roo — A pre-dawn shooting at a nightclub in downtown Tulum left one man dead and a woman wounded, prompting a large response from security forces and the State Prosecutor’s Office.
The attack occurred outside the Nocturnal Tulum nightclub on Calle Beta Sur, between Andromeda and Avenida Tulum. According to initial reports, multiple gunmen arrived at the establishment and opened fire on two employees standing at the entrance before fleeing.
The deceased was preliminarily identified as the club’s security chief, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head and died instantly. A waitress was also struck by a bullet as she tried to take cover after hearing the shots.
Witnesses said the waitress managed to leave the scene on her own and went to Hospital Tulum for initial treatment. Due to the severity of her injury, she was later transferred to the General Hospital in Playa del Carmen. Authorities have not released an official update on her condition.
Multiple calls to 911 brought municipal police officers to the scene, who cordoned off the area and preserved evidence. Investigative police and forensic experts from the State Prosecutor’s Office arrived shortly after to process the scene, collect evidence, and remove the body for transfer to the forensic medical service.
No arrests have been reported, and the motive for the attack remains unknown. The State Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation to identify those responsible and determine the circumstances of the latest violent incident in Tulum’s municipal seat.
