Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Playa del Carmen has roughly 21,000 doses of influenza vaccine available for older adults and children under 12, municipal health secretary Juan Antonio Uribe said.
Uribe said people in both groups can get the shot at municipal or state first-contact health centers. The vaccination drive will gradually expand to the rest of the population, he added.
Officials Warn Against Self-Medication
Uribe urged anyone who develops symptoms to seek a medical assessment and avoid self-medication, warning of the risks of taking medicine without professional supervision.
He also asked residents to keep track of official information, take precautions during rain and shifts in temperature, stay hydrated and see a doctor when necessary.
