Quintana Roo — Authorities detained 246 people and seized 43,537 doses of illegal drugs across Quintana Roo during a weeklong enforcement push from Oct. 19 to 25, officials reported.
The operations also produced seven firearms, along with magazines, ammunition and other items whose possession violates Mexico’s Federal Firearms and Explosives Law, according to the State Prosecutor’s Office. Security forces recovered 67 vehicles that had been abandoned, reported stolen or linked to suspected crimes.
Of those taken into custody, 32 were handed over to authorities on suspicion of drug-related offenses, 42 for other common-law crimes and one for offenses involving adolescents.
Raids and Court Action
Prosecutors said officers carried out 11 raids during the week and executed 23 arrest warrants. About 87 percent of those warrants were tied to high-impact crimes.
The agency also reported that 73 people were bound over for trial and that courts handed down 10 convictions through oral proceedings during the same period.
Drugs Found on Puerto Morelos Beaches
Separately, personnel from the Mexican Navy (Semar) and municipal police seized 31 bricks containing white powder on beaches in Puerto Morelos during operations on Oct. 20 and 21, the State Prosecutor’s Office said.
Officials said the packages were found along the coastline and secured for the corresponding investigation. The agency did not specify what substance the bricks contained, and no arrests have been announced in connection with the find.
