Mexico City — Yucatan Week 2026 opened Friday at the Palacio de los Deportes, bringing together more than 270 exhibitors from over 20 municipalities to showcase the state’s culture, gastronomy, and traditions.
Governor Joaquin Diaz Mena said the event serves as the most important window to display the best of Yucatan and position the state as a strategic destination for business and a cultural benchmark.
He noted that 60% of the exhibitors are women leading small and medium-sized enterprises, highlighting the leadership of Yucatecan women in the state’s development.
“Being Maya is not a memory of the past, but a living culture of the present, with an eye on the future and pride in our roots,” Diaz Mena said. “The Maya Renaissance is about building a Yucatan where no one feels left behind.”
Nathalie Desplas Puel, deputy secretary of tourism, attended on behalf of Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodriguez Zamora. She described the gathering as more than a cultural and food fair, calling it “a bridge of identity” that brings Yucatan’s historical, touristic, and cultural wealth to thousands of visitors.
The opening ceremony featured a performance by the Orquesta Tipica Yukalpeten.
Yucatan Week runs from May 8 to 17 at the Palacio de los Deportes.
