The Riviera Maya and Cozumel, known as the “Island of the Swallows,” are expecting the arrival of 33 cruise ships this February. The island is set to welcome more than 100,000 tourists from the 17th to the 23rd of February. Cozumel alone will see the arrival of 24 cruise ships carrying over 70,000 tourists.
This surge in tourists is expected to have a positive economic impact, particularly for the commercial and restaurant sectors. These industries have reported significant drops in recent weeks.
The week of the 17th to the 23rd of February is set to be a busy one for the Mexican Caribbean, with the arrival of 33 cruise ships. These ships are expected to bring in more than 100,000 visitors, according to the Quintana Roo Integral Port Administration (Apiqroo).
The influx of tourists kicked off with the arrival of four large ships, mostly from the United States. This reinforces Cozumel’s status as a prime destination. The island is set to see an even larger influx with the arrival of six cruise ships the following day.
The number of visitors to the island is expected to increase even further by 2025.
