Two Teenagers Detained After Armed Robbery With Fake Gun in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Police arrested two teenagers on suspicion of robbing a young man at gunpoint on Avenida Chemuyil, using a replica firearm.

According to initial reports, the minors allegedly threatened the victim, around 18 years old, with the fake weapon and stole his belongings.

A security guard detained one suspect at the scene, while the other tried to flee into the Misión Villamar neighborhood, where residents subdued him after he allegedly threatened other people.

State police officers and personnel from GEAVIG (Specialized Group for Attention to Gender Violence) arrived to take custody of the minors, who were later handed over to the appropriate authorities. The victim was referred to file a formal complaint.
