Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Gunmen on a motorcycle shot and killed a man and a woman Wednesday night in the Las Torres irregular settlement, near the entrance to the El Bali residential complex, authorities said.

The victims were accompanied by two minors, who were unharmed in the attack. The children, believed to be the couple’s offspring, were taken into custody by the GEAVIG group, a state agency for vulnerable groups.

Municipal police officers cordoned off the scene and awaited investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office. Paramedics from ERUM did not intervene as both victims died at the scene.

As of late Wednesday, authorities had not reported any arrests in connection with the shooting.
