Tulum Hotels Urged to Adjust Operations Ahead of Free Beaches Protest

Tulum, Quintana Roo — A citizen group organizing a peaceful protest this Sunday has issued recommendations for hotels in the area, prompting operational adjustments across the destination.

The collective Playas Libres, which is calling for free access to beaches and a more balanced development model, suggested that hotels schedule airport transfers before 8:30 or 9:00 a.m. to avoid potential traffic disruptions. The protest is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. at the roundabout leading to the archaeological zone.

The group also urged hotels and service providers to inform guests in advance about the protest and to allow extra time for transfers and tours, especially those connecting to the coastal area and Cancun International Airport.

Hotel staff have already begun notifying visitors, while travel agencies and transport operators are reorganizing itineraries to prevent delays.

The gathering point, located at one of the busiest access points to beaches and the archaeological site, is expected to affect traffic during the morning.

Although the mobilization has been announced as peaceful and not intended to disrupt tourism, the sector has chosen to take precautionary measures to ensure service continuity and a positive visitor experience.

Playas Libres reiterated that the protest aims to defend free beach access and promote a more balanced development model, calling on all sectors to collaborate to avoid major disruptions.
