Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Authorities rescued three women suspected of being victims of human trafficking during a raid on a property in the Supermanzana 62 neighborhood of Playa del Carmen, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced.

The operation was authorized by a judge and carried out by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes of Trafficking and Exploitation of Children and Adolescents, in coordination with the Mexican Army, the Mexican Navy, and the National Guard.

According to preliminary investigations, the three Mexican women were recruited from vulnerable situations and allegedly forced to provide sexual services. Prices for these services ranged from 500 to 1,500 pesos ($25 to $75), with a significant portion going to the individuals running the property where they were housed.

During the raid, authorities seized bags of dried plant material resembling marijuana, condoms, notebooks with notes, a computer, a tablet, a cellphone, and a video camera. The property was secured and placed under the custody of the prosecutor’s office. The victims received protection and specialized care as investigations continue to identify and locate those responsible.
