Armed Men Rob Church During Service in Cancun, Sparking Fear

Cancun, Quintana Roo — Three armed men stormed a church in Cancun during a Wednesday evening service, robbing worshippers of cash, cellphones, and valuables before fleeing in a stolen vehicle, authorities said.

The incident took place at the First Baptist Church in the Supermanzana 29 neighborhood. According to preliminary reports, the suspects entered the building and threatened attendees, demanding their belongings.

The robbers also stole a vehicle belonging to one of the victims to make their getaway. Police launched a search operation in the area but no arrests have been reported.

No physical injuries were reported, but several parishioners suffered panic attacks due to the ordeal. The State Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation to identify those responsible.

The robbery has sparked outrage among the religious community and Cancun residents, as it targeted a space traditionally considered safe.
