Playa del Carmen, QR — Three men found guilty of attempted murder have each been sentenced to 25 years in prison. The three individuals received the sentence for a failed murder attempt that occurred in 2023.
According to police, José Gilberto Mar Noh, Carlos Daniel Jiménez Reyes, and Gabriel Alfonso Ortiz de la Cruz were each sentenced to 25 years in prison for attempted homicide.
"The events occurred in Playa del Carmen on the afternoon of January 20, 2023, when the three aforementioned subjects were walking on 90th Avenue and 12th Street in the Ejidal neighborhood, approaching the victim's home, located in the same neighborhood," the police report stated.
"Upon arriving at the residence, José Gilberto Mar Noh approached the victim and pulled a pistol from under his clothing, telling him he would kill him. He then attempted to fire the weapon, but it jammed. However, on a second attempt, he managed to fire a shot, wounding the victim in the left thigh," the report continued.
Each man was sentenced and fined 155,610 pesos, as well as 5,808.32 pesos for material damages.
